At that time we were not granted an
increase but were told to request additional funding again at the first of
the year when the county budget was more clear.
In the interval our grant from the N. C. Department of Public Instruction was
cut from the requested $50,000 to $42,000, which has increased the pressure on
our budget. The number of adolescents involved in the program has increased
considerably. 'There have been thirty new referrals during the first semester
with a significant increase in adolescents at risk at the high school level.
The project is now housed at the high school, and this has contributed to an
increased number of self-referrals by adolescents.
We urgently need an additional $6,000 to maintain our current staffing level
through the fiscal year. Without this support we will need to reduce our
staff as early as April.
We appreciate the past support of the County Commissioners. We believe the
project has had a very positive impact on adolescents in Orange County. If
you have any questions about the current status of the project or the need for
these funds, please contact me or Mrs. Betty Compton.
Thank you for your consideration of this request.
Sincerely yours,
42eL /40,---
Frank Loda, M.D. Betty P.
