Letter is received from individual stating plans for retirement or <br /> resignation and setting date. <br /> 2. District Extension Director meets with Board of Commissioners and managers <br /> to discuss Extension program and procedures to be followed. <br /> 3. District Extension Director meets with county staff to explain procedures <br /> to be followed in filling vacant position. <br /> 4. Acting County Extension Director may be appointed in some situations. <br /> 5. Position is advertised for 30 days. <br /> 6. Applicants are invited in for interviews with Director, Associate <br /> Director, Assistant Director, County Operations, and appropriate District <br /> Extension Director. <br /> 7. Decision is made as far as the applicant(s) to be recommended to the <br /> Board of Commissioners. <br /> 8. District Extension Director and Assistant Director, County Operations, <br /> will discuss recommendations regarding salary level and amount being <br /> requested from county. <br /> 9. District Extension Director will make contact with county manager or <br /> chairman of Board of County Commissioners to establish meeting to discuss <br /> recommendations. <br /> 10. Agricultural Communications Project Coordinator of Press, Radio, TV will <br /> be asked to write a news release that can be taken to this meeting to be <br /> used with news personnel. News release will reflect joint action by Board <br /> of Commissioners and North Carolina Agricultural Extension Service. <br /> 11. District Extension Director will make recommendations to Board of County <br /> --Commissioners for official action. <br /> 12. District Extension Director will inform county staff of action taken by <br /> Board of Commissioners and notify Assistant Director, County Operations <br /> regarding action taken by Board of Commissioners. <br /> 13. Assistant Director, County Operations will send letter to other applicants <br /> advising them of action taken in regard to the position. <br /> 14. A letter will be sent under the Director's signature making the appointment <br /> and giving necessary information relative to the position and enclosing a <br /> copy of the one-year probationary status to be signed and returned. <br /> 15. District Extension Director and Assistant Director, County Operations will <br /> prepare an itemized resume of all steps taken during the process to be <br /> made a part of the permanent file. <br /> • <br /> • <br />
