Department of <br /> Transportation, Manager of Airport Development regarding <br /> procedures necessary to make application for funding of <br /> feasibility study. <br /> BACKGROUND: Pursuant to Board request on November 17, a list of airport <br /> consultants was requested from Bruce Matthews of NC Department <br /> of Transportation. Following consultation with Mr. Pearson <br /> Stewart, Chairman of the Airport Issues Task Force, Mr. Tom <br /> McDowell was contacted regarding the preparation of the <br /> application necessary to receive State aid to fund the Airport <br /> Feasibility study. <br /> Since the procedure required to make application is more <br /> extensive than was anticipated, Mr. McDowell and Mr. Matthews <br /> were requested to be present at the meeting and to provide <br /> information regarding the application process and required <br /> prerequisites. <br /> McDenco and Associates has quoted a cost for application pre- <br /> paratory work at $60. 00 per hour for consultant time, $35. 00 <br /> per hour for technician time, with a not to exceed figure of <br /> $6, 000 through June 30, 1988. The consultant has further <br /> agree to bill the County after funds are appropriated in July, <br /> 1988. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> Approve the designation of McDenco and Associates, P.A. as the <br /> consultant to prepare preliminary work for application submis- <br /> sion; to authorize County staff to work with McDenco to deter- <br /> mine the scope of work for the Airport Management Consultant <br /> and bring forward a contract for Board consideration; and to <br /> authorize staff to work with McDenco to gather the data requi- <br /> site to application submission. <br />
