Listed below is the proposed policy <br /> statement as recommended by the Natural Resources <br /> Subcommittee, including minor wording chances made by the <br /> Planning Board at its June 9 , 1987 meeting. Also included are <br /> the goals on which the policy statements were based . After <br /> each goals statement is an abbreviation, indicating the <br /> source. The index of abbreviations is as follows : <br /> LUP Land Use Plan <br /> ZO Zoning Ordinance <br /> SR Subdivision Regulations <br /> As indicated above, the Planning Board considered the <br /> proposed policy draft on June 9 , 1987 . The Board recommended <br /> approval as outlined below. <br /> A. Revise section ( 1 ) Water Supply to read as follows: <br /> ( 1 ) Water SuDDly/Sep:ane Dispose! <br /> The Planning Board recommends that Orange County <br /> take an active role with its municipalities and <br /> surroundino jurisdictions in developing and <br /> managing water supplies and .seweoe disposal on a <br /> local and regional basis . The Planning Board <br /> further recommends that Orange County meet its <br /> water supply and sewage disposal needs in a manner <br /> consistent with existing aoricultual , water Duality <br /> critical area, environmental protection and buffer <br /> pol is ies. <br /> These recommendations are based on the following <br /> goals : <br /> ( a) Provide clean and safe water supplies <br /> available and adeouate to meet future needs of <br /> the residents of Orange County . ( LUP) <br /> ( b) Identify, develop and manage Orange County ' s <br /> water supplies so that available resources are <br />
