. � 2 <br /> MOTION was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Halkiotis to place $98,000 in contingency for day care for phase out with <br /> the condition that if more than $75,000 is received in reallocated funds <br /> that this issue will be reviewed. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> ADOPTION OF THE 1987-88 BUDGET <br /> MOTION was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Hartwell to adopt the 1987-88 budget as stated below: <br /> 1. To include those mark-up/mark-down items as listed in the August <br /> 3, 1987 minutes. <br /> 2 . Current expense for schools $ 9, 175,027 <br /> 3 . Per pupil allocation set at $870 <br /> 4. Set the property rate at $ 60. 6/per $100 of <br /> assessed valuation. <br /> 5. Chapel Hill-Carrboro School District Tax set at <br /> 16.5 cents per $100 of assessed valuation <br /> 6. Fire District tax rates set as follows: <br /> Cedar Grove 054 <br /> Efland 032 <br /> Eno 06 <br /> Little River 039 <br /> New Hope 036 <br /> Orange 035 <br /> Orange Grove 04 <br /> South Orange 076 <br /> Chapel Hill 025 <br /> Southern Triangle 04 <br /> Damascus 05 <br /> White Cross 079 <br /> 7. All Project Ordinances as listed above. <br /> 8. Salary schedule as presented. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> APPOINTMENTS <br /> The following appointments were approved: <br /> COUNTY SENIOR CITIZENS BOARD - Diane Brown <br /> AGRICULTURAL ADVISORY BOARD - Chris Hogan <br /> RECRUITMENT AND SELECTION OF ORANGE COUNTY MANAGER <br /> After a brief discussion, it was decided that the following specific <br /> skills would be desired and should be included in any advertisement in the <br /> recruitment and selection of a manager: <br /> (1) A person who is people oriented. <br /> (2) A person who has some experience with a rapid urbanizing area. <br /> (3) A person who is willing to be flexible and create alternatives. <br /> (4) A person who understands team management. <br /> (5) A person knowledgeable in technological advances. <br /> (6) A person with human communication skills as well as interpersonal <br /> skills. <br /> The applications are to be sent to the attention of the Chair and the <br /> deadline for receipt of applications was set for September 30, 1987. <br /> ADJOURNMENT <br /> With no further items for the Board to consider, Chair Marshall <br /> adjourned the meeting.
