These fees produce relatively small amounts of <br /> revenue . <br /> The charges for services category of revenue is one area of <br /> revenue that needs to be studied further. The Finance Department ' s <br /> requested budget for fiscal year 1987-88 contains $3000 for <br /> this purpose . It is expected that the user fee study will <br /> result in recommended increases in the unregulated revenues <br /> in this category . <br /> E . Interest on Investments - GS 159-30 authorizes local governments to <br /> invest idle cash and sets out the permissable investment instruments . <br /> Investment income has been a very important revenue source for the <br /> County over the years . In the last four fiscal years declining interest <br /> rates have had a major affect on investment income . For example , in <br /> fiscal year 83/84 investment income was $440 ,020 . 00 . According to <br /> the current year estimate this income will be approximately $170 ,000. 00 . <br /> This reflects a 61% decrease in revenue from investment earnings . <br /> The amount of this decrease is nearly 1G on the current tax rate . <br /> F. Miscellaneous/Other Revenues - Revenues in this category are <br /> usually very minor for the most part , but in total they often <br /> raise as much as several more visible sources .
