023 <br /> REFERENCE: LR-2 ( Schley) <br /> LOCATION: NC57 and Schley Road ( SR1546) <br /> PLAN CATEGORY: Rural Community <br /> EVALUATION: The node is located at the intersection of an <br /> arterial highway, NC57 , and the collector, Schley Road. As <br /> with Caldwell , Schley has a strong existing community <br /> identity. A church and Grange hall comprise institutional <br /> uses within the node. There are no existing. commercial uses <br /> in the node. No natural environmental constraints hinder the <br /> development of a rural community node in this area. The <br /> absence of public water and sewer during the plan period will <br /> be the major inhibitor to commercial growth within the node. <br /> REFERENCE: LR-3 ( Underwood ' s Store) <br /> LOCATION: New Sharon Church Road ( SR1538) and Schley Road <br /> ( SR1546) <br /> PLAN CATEGORY: Rural Neighborhood <br /> EVALUATION: This node is centered on the intersection of two <br /> collector roads in the extreme southern portion of the <br /> township and is the closest node to that portion in <br /> southeastern Little River Township designated Rural <br /> Residential . There is one commercial establishment currently <br /> operating within the node. No natural environmental <br /> constraints hinder small scale commercial development within <br /> the node. <br /> • REFERENCE: LR-4 ( Berry ' s Grove) <br /> LOCATION: NC157 and Holly Ridge Road ( SR1524)/Brown Road <br /> ( SR1516) <br /> PLAN CATEGORY: Rural Neighborhood <br /> EVALUATION: This node lies at the intersection of an arterial <br /> highway, NC157 , and the collector, Holly Ridge Road. There is <br /> a church within the node that serves as a community focus. No <br /> environmental constraints hinder small scale development and <br /> no disruption of residential uses are foreseen by commercial <br /> or industrial development. Of the four nodes in the Township, <br /> Berry ' s Grove is the only one fully in the northern half Qf <br /> the Township., There are no existing commercial uses in the <br /> node. <br /> • <br /> 3.7-13 <br />
