U�r�© <br /> CITY OF DURHAM <br /> 3 <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> :18 691 b <br /> g <br /> FJ'TH cAR��Q� OFFICE OF <br /> ea� aa <br /> MAYOR E.J.EVANS <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> DURHAM COUNTY <br /> BEFORE THE STATE STREAM SANITATION COMMITTEE <br /> PROPOSED RECLASSIFICATION OF ENO RIVER FROM ENO MEMORANDUM <br /> COTTON MILLS DAM TO NEUSE RIVER, LITTLE RIVER, BRIEF OF THE <br /> AND PERTINENT TRIBUTARIES—NEUSE RIVER BASIN CITY OF DURHAM <br /> At a regular meeting of the City Council of Durham on June 4, 1962, the <br /> following Resolution was adopted: <br /> "A RESOLUTION FINDING CERTAIN FACTS AND REQUESTING <br /> THE STATE STREAM SANITATION COMMITTEE TO RECLASSIFY <br /> AS "A--II" THE ENO AND LITTLE RIVERS AND THEIR TRIBUTARIES <br /> WHEREAS, the "Schedule of Classification adopted and <br /> assigned to Waters of the Neuse River Basin" , was adopted by <br /> the State Stream Sanitation Committee at its meeting duly called <br /> . and held on December 17, 1959, in Raleigh, North Carolina; and <br /> WHEREAS, the waters of the Eno River from Eno Cotton <br /> Mills Dam to dam at University Steam Station were classified "D" <br /> ("Suitable for agriculture and for industrial cooling and process <br /> water after treatment by the user as may be required under each <br /> particular circumstance"); from Dam at University Steam Station <br /> to Neuse River, class "C" ("Suitable for fishing and fish prop- <br /> agation, and any other usage requiring waters of lower quality"); <br /> and the waters of the Little River from its source to Eno River and <br /> its tributaries were classed "C" , with the exception of Foster <br /> Creek which was classed "D"; and <br /> WHEREAS, the City of Durham is supplying water not <br /> only to the City proper, but to many outlying areas, including <br /> Hope. Valley and The Research Triangle, and is also supplying <br /> water to Butner in Granville County and has agreed to supply <br /> water to Raleigh-Durham Airport in Wake County, and, no doubt, <br /> will be supplying other areas in the future; and <br /> ATTACHMENT A <br />
