Margaret Lane - - - <br /> Hillsborough, NC 27278 <br /> Dear Ms. Marshall : <br /> We are writing to support the proposed ban on the steel-jawed leghold trap. <br /> As animal lovers, we do not believe that this is a. humane way to hunt. If <br /> people must hunt, at least they should give the animals a fair chance. Also, <br /> many domestic pets are caught by these traps and left to die a very painful , <br /> excruciating death or left mutilated if caught in time to be saved. <br /> Further, we enjoy hiking and backpacking through our countryside, and fear the <br /> chance that we could be caught in one of these traps if not carefully plotting <br /> each step. Needless to say, this tends to take some of the pleasure out of a <br /> trek through the woods. <br /> There are many factors to consider against the leg hold trap, and we urge <br /> you to ban this inhumane device. <br /> Thank you for the opportunity to express our views on this important issue. <br /> Sincerely, y� <br /> 6V‘71-CIL <br /> Rachel E.
