I commend the task
PatriciaForkan force and the council for the positive and far-reaching
Vice President/Program g
and Communications proposals in the proposed ordinance, most particularly,
Dr.John W.Grandy those elements which would ban the use of cruel and
Vice President/ inhumane traps.
Wildlife and Environment
Phyllis Wright
Vice hyllis sident/ The hearings were long and tiring, and I noticed
Companion Animals that issues became somewhat confused. However , trappers rarely attempt
Jack W.Lydman PP Y t
p
Virginia Lynch to trap skunks and never trap bats. Rather, trappers
Cherie Mason use steel traps to trap animals whose skins have high
John W.Mettler,III economic value. In short, trappers p
John G.Mosher or ra ppers use steel traps to
SusanPepperdine conduct a commercial enterprise, not to conduct a form
O.J.Ramsey of "disease control. " Moreover, the National Academy
Marilyn G.Sayler of Sciences reported in the early 1970 's that trapping
Everett Smith,Jr.
BrookSpeldel has no effect on the transmission of rabies because
Robert F.Welborn rabies is such a virulent disease.
K.William Wiseman
HONORARY DIRECTORS
Aida Flemming
Virginia Milliken
Andrew Wyeth
