C. 27278 <br /> Dear Miss Marshall : <br /> The steel jaw trap is not only dangerous to children , pets , and <br /> even adults , but is an irresponsible , dangerous way in which <br /> animals are trapped . Many of these animals suffer horrible <br /> agonizing death, others are discarded as they are not the ones <br /> being trapped for . This is not a matter of politics but of <br /> morality, <br /> North Carolina stands as the beacon in the southeast regarding <br /> animal cruelty . The ONLY state in the southeast where dog and <br /> cock fighting still remain a misdemeanor not a felony, due to <br /> the lack of interest of some legislators and the lobbying of <br /> some unsavory groups . <br /> Let us start in Orange County having more compassionate , humane <br /> and responsible treatment of our animals as otherwise we will <br /> add another mark in our already bad reputation regarding the <br /> respect for other living creatures . <br /> Sincerely, <br /> • <br /> 1"J <br />
