<br /> The transportation needs associated with the area's projected growth will become
<br /> increasingly evident in the near future, more severe than generally acknowledged,
<br /> and very expensive to adequately address. The currently adopted thoroughfare
<br /> plans for Durham and Chapel Hill - Carrboro contain several recommended improve-
<br /> ments which will need to be implemented quickly if intolerable congestion levels
<br /> are to be avoided. The remainder of this chapter analyzes those plans.
