Since the inventory numbers do specify of hogs by age , it was assumed that the proportion of feeder pigs to mature hogs in the population was the same as were sold through the five auction markets in the area . The resulting hog and pig inventory number was converted to animal units by dividing 5. 25 into the inventory number .
