• ! <br /> and shall order abatement of such nuisance within forty-eight <br /> ( 48 ) hours or such lesser amount of time which shall be <br /> designated on the abatement order or citation. <br /> D. If, after forty-eight ( 48) hours or such lesser time <br /> as is designated in the abatement order or citation, the <br /> nuisance is not abated, the animal creating the nuisance shall <br /> be impounded. <br /> Section XVII - Rabies Control . It shall be unlawful and a <br /> violation of this ordinance for any animal owner, keeper or <br /> other person to fail to comply with the laws of North Carolina <br /> relating to the control of rabies . <br /> Section XVIII - Rabies Tag and Identification Tag. All <br /> dogs and cats shall wear a valid rabies tag. All dogs shall <br /> additionally wear an identification tag giving the owner or <br /> keeper's name, current address and telephone number. <br /> Section XIX - Applicability to Veterinarians . Hospitals, <br /> clinics and other premises operated by licensed veterinarians <br /> for the care and treatment of animals are exempt from the <br /> provisions of this ordinance except for the provisions relating <br /> to cruelty to animals and rabies control . <br /> Section XX - Kennel Standards . <br /> A. Standards for Commercial Kennels . All commercial <br /> kennels shall, in addition to the other requirements of this <br /> ordinance, comply with the minimum standards of this subsection. <br /> Owners or operators of commercial kennels must apply to the <br /> Animal Control Director, pay any designated fee, and receive a <br /> permit to own or operate a commercial kennel in Orange County. <br /> - 21 - <br />
