Widen NC 54 to a four lane boulevard facility from 15-501 to the <br /> intersection of NC 54 and Old Fayetteville Road. <br /> This item includes a request to extend the currently proposed project, <br /> U-2003, to include the improvements to the intersection of NC 54 and <br /> Old Fayetteville Road (SR 1107). <br /> URBAN <br /> 1. Widen the following streets to 36 feet with curb and gutter and bike <br /> lanes: <br /> Hillsborough Street from West Main Street to the Town limits <br /> West Main Street from Hillsborough Street to NC 54 <br /> North Greensboro Street from Estes Drive to Hillsborough Street <br /> 2. Widen Estes Drive to three lanes from the Carrboro Town Limits to <br /> North Greensboro Street, and include bike lanes. <br /> 3. Improvement of downtown circulation patterns. Specifics will be <br /> included in Carrboro's long-range downtown circulation report. <br /> STATE SECONDARY <br /> 1. Widen the bridge on Smith Level Road over Morgan Creek to four lanes <br /> 2. Widen Smith Level to four lanes from NC 54 to US 15-501 <br /> 3. Widen Jones Ferry Road to four lanes from Old Fayetteville Road to NC <br /> 54 <br /> • <br /> TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM MANAGEMENT <br /> 1. Implement the recommendations of the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Signalization <br /> Study to purchase and install improved signal equipment in the two <br /> towns. <br /> BICYCLE PROGRAM <br /> 1. Include bike lanes on Estes Drive from the Carrboro Town Limits to <br /> North Greensboro Street, as an incidental project. <br /> • 2. Creation and installation of a system map of the Carrboro bicycle <br /> network, and distribution to potential riders. <br /> 3. Construction of a bike path between Jones Ferry Road at Main Street to <br /> Carr Street to relieve potential safety problems in the Downtown area. <br />
