Page 3 <br /> 15 <br /> railings, special parking etc. <br /> Finally, the County Commissioners could reinforce its commitment of <br /> (Accr_ritanility, Visibility and Accessibility) by constructing a large multi- <br /> purpose room at Northside in which all County Commissioner meetings would <br /> be held rather than the courtroom on Franklin Street. A multi-purpose room <br /> is critically needed by the Senior Center operations and could be used for <br /> daily nutrition programs and special events. <br /> Chapel Hill Senior Center Operations <br /> The Facility Needs Study does not address at all the Dept. on Aging's <br /> critical need for additional group and iniividual services space for senior <br /> center operations at Northside. Dept. on Aging staff recommends the following <br /> additional center space: (1) a large multi-purpose Nutrition Room (3,000 sq.ft <br /> (2) Activity/Game Room (500 sq. ft. ) , (3) storage rooms (300 sq. ft. ) , (4) <br /> two visiting agency/examination offices (150 sq. ft. each) . The existing <br /> nutrition room could then be used for Arts/Crafts and a section of it for <br /> small meetings. <br /> Additional center space would also be needed if future service agree- <br /> ments with University departments are established to use the facility as a <br /> training/research gerentology center. " Discussions are already underway by <br /> the DoA Director with various UNC programs with focuses on aging. <br />
