CENTRAL, PIEDMONT EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING CONSORTIUM <br /> PROGRAM YEAR 86-87 <br /> SDA JOB TRAINING PLAN SUMMARY <br /> I. Political Jurisdiction <br /> Counties of Durham and Orange <br /> II. Grant Reci Tent/Administrative Entit <br /> City of Durham <br /> III. Local Goals and Ob ectives <br /> The overall purpose of programs operated under the Job Training <br /> Partnership Act during program years 86-87 by the Central Piedmont <br /> Employment and Training Office is to provide educational enhancement, <br /> occupational training and private sector employment opportunities to <br /> residents of Durham and Orange Counties. In accordance with the federal <br /> law and regulations, the program will provide these opportunities to the <br /> eligible unemployed, economically disadvantaged and non-economical <br /> disadvantaged citizens within the service delivery area. All non-economically <br /> operated by the SDA are designed for an increase in employment programs <br /> g and <br /> earnings and a reduction in welfare dependency. <br /> The Service Delivery Area will provide training opportunities, <br /> with Title II-A funds, in occupations ranked among the highest annual <br /> job needs in the SDA. The SDA will strive towards its oal by <br /> skill instruction through classroom activity, g t arning, <br /> y <br /> remedial education, referral and job search direction. These effo is <br /> are aimed at helping individuals become more employable for permanent, <br /> unsubsidized jobs with adequate wages and good working conditions as <br /> mandated by the driving force of JTPA. Additionally, <br /> expend funds to provide much needed vocational career,tand pperso personal <br /> counseling for all JTPA participants. <br /> Approximately seventy-six percent (76Z) of adult terminees will <br /> enter employment, forty-nine percent (492) of adult welfare recipients <br /> who terminate will also enter employment.
