UNC Chapel Hill Permit <br /> B. Compatibility of Waste with Containers <br /> The Permittee shall comply with 40 CFR 264.172 as adopted in 15A NCAC 13A .0109 and ensure <br /> that the ability of the container to contain the waste is not impaired. <br /> C. Management of Containers <br /> The Permittee shall manage containers in accordance with 40 CFR 264.173 as adopted in 15A <br /> NCAC 13A .0109 and as described in Part D of the Application. Stacking is limited to small <br /> drums and boxes such that maximum height from the floor to top of any stored container will be no <br /> more than 76 inches. <br /> D. Inspections <br /> The Permittee shall inspect container storage areas in accordance with 40 CFR 264.174 as adopted <br /> in 15A NCAC 13A .0109 and as described in Part F of the Application. <br /> E. Aisle Space <br /> At a minimum, the Permittee shall maintain aisle space as required by 40 CFR 264.35 as adopted <br /> in 15A NCAC 13A .0109. A minimum aisle space of thirty(30) inches shall be maintained at all <br /> times. <br /> F. Containment <br /> The Permittee shall comply with the requirements of a containment system found in 40 CFR <br /> 264.175(b)(1) - (5) as adopted in 15A NCAC 13A .0109, including having a base which is free of <br /> cracks and gaps and is able to contain leaks, spills and accumulated rainfall until such time that the <br /> material is detected and removed. The containment system must be designed for efficient drainage <br /> and have sufficient capacity to contain 10% of the total volume of containers. The Permittee shall <br /> maintain the containment system in accordance with Part D of the Application. <br /> G. Special Requirements for Ignitable or Reactive Waste <br /> The Permittee shall not locate containers holding ignitable or reactive waste within 50 feet of the <br /> facility's property line. <br /> H. Special Requirements for Incompatible Waste <br /> 1. The Permittee shall not place incompatible wastes in the same container. <br /> 2. The Permittee shall not place hazardous waste in an unwashed container that previously held <br /> an incompatible waste or material. <br /> III-2 <br />
