T a h <br /> 01e <br /> ORANGE COUNTY PLANNING DEPARTMENT <br /> HILLSBOROUGH <br /> NORTH CAROLINA <br /> 27278 <br /> 0101 Dr„ <br /> . 4. .e <br /> t <br /> gn a.a' <br /> NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON A PROPOSED ORDINANCE TO <br /> ASSIGN AND REGULATE HOUSE NUMBERS IN ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. <br /> AND <br /> THE ASSIGNMENT OF HOUSE NUMBERS TO RURAL ROUTES IN ORANGE COUNTY, N.C. <br /> Pursuant to the requirements of the General Statutes of <br /> North Carolina, Chapter 153A, Section 240, notice is hereby given <br /> that a public hearing will be held in the Courtroom of the Chapel <br /> Hill Post Office, 179 East Franklin Street, Chapel Hill , North <br /> Carolina, on Tuesday, March 24, 1987, at 7 :30 pm for the purpose <br /> of giving all interested citizens an opportunity to speak for or <br /> against the adoption of a proposed ordinance for assigning and <br /> regulating house numbers in Orange County, and the assignment of <br /> house numbers in two rural routes adjacent to the Chapel <br /> Hill -Carrboro area . <br /> HOUSE NUMBERING ORDINNANCE <br /> The proposed ordinance is necessary for public safety <br /> purposes, to minimize confusion to citizens and visitors, to <br /> promote orderly mail delivery, and to establish a permanent <br /> address for Orange County citizens. <br /> The proposed ordinance identifies the method by which house <br /> numbers are assigned to residences and businesses, establishes <br /> rules for the display of assigned house numbers, and provides <br /> enforcement procedures for compliance. <br /> A$S I GEMEBI QE EDDIE LDEBERI <br /> Two rural routes are proposed to be changed from the <br /> existing rural box numbers to a system of permanently assigned <br /> house numbers. These routes include: <br /> 1 . Route A - An area north of Chapel Hill consisting <br /> generally of Stoneridge and Sedgefield Subdivisions, and <br /> homes along Old N.C. 86, Mill House Road and Whitfield <br /> Road. <br /> 2. Route - An area west of Carrboro including <br /> homes in the vicinity of Jones Ferry Road and portions of <br /> Old Greensboro Road, N.C. Highway 54 and Damascus Church <br /> Road. <br />
