PROPOSED AMENDMENTS TO THE FLOOD DAMAGE PREVENTION ORDINANCE <br /> (The complete narrative is attached to these minutes on pages 'I 72 TZ . ) <br /> Planner Greg Szymik presented for approval proposed amendments <br /> to the Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance. On August 25, 1986, the <br /> Federal Emergency Management Agency published final rules revising <br /> National Flood Insurance Program criteria. The criteria became effective <br /> October 1, 1986 and require, as a condition of continued validity, that <br /> communities revise their floodplain management regulations to make them <br /> consistent with this criteria within six months of the effective date. <br /> The proposed revisions provide for changes in the definition of mobile <br /> homes and start of construction, flood proofing of mechanical and utility <br /> equipment, the use of openings in enclosures beneath a structure's lowest <br /> floor, the use of available flood data, and certification of floor <br /> elevations. The Planning Board recommended approval. <br /> Motion was made by Commissioner Carey, seconded by Commissioner <br /> Halkiotis to approve the proposed amendments to the Flood Damage <br /> Prevention Ordinance as presented and recommended by the Planning Board. <br /> VOTE: UNANIMOUS. <br /> 11.
