138 GOAL (1) The conservation and protection of Orange County' s natural and cultural environments by means which are equitable to all citizens of the County. (3) The continued use of agricultural land and the maintenance of the farming way of life in rural areas as a viable part of the County' s economy. (1) p. 3.5-5. OBJECTIVE None EMEGSAL (1) RgSource Conservation, Four categories of land have been depicted on the Land Use Plan for resource conservation purposes. These categories include Resource Protection Areas, Public/Private Open Space Areas, Agricultural Preservation Areas and Water Quality Critical Areas. (Of particular relevance to CONSERVATION is Agricultural Preservation Areas) . (2) During the compilation of background information, a land use survey was conducted of the Joint Planning Area. The survey = indicated those land areas currently in use for agricultural purposes. This information was further verified through the Orange County Tax Office to determine those farms which qualified - for, and were listed for, use value taxation purposes. (2) pp. 82 84. (3) The presence of these unique natural features in Orange County suggests that special efforts should be made to manage these areas and sites so as to conserve and protect those characteristics that make the site biologically or geologically important.
