Objectives, Proposals & <br /> Standards <br /> ELEMENT, HOUSING <br /> The numbers in parentheses following the policies. <br /> goals. objectives. proposals. and standards are keyed to the <br /> list of references at the end. <br /> POLICY <br /> (1) Encourage the location of various housing types <br /> according to the accessibility of public services and <br /> commercial uses. Multi-family housing should be built <br /> in Urban and Transition Areas where urban-type services <br /> are available. Lower density (a minimum of one dwelling <br /> unit per acre) non-farm housing is most appropriate in <br /> rural and community areas outside of productive farmland <br /> areas. (1) p. 3.5-6. • <br /> (2) Discourage medium and higher density residential <br /> development in the rural areas of the County. (1) p. <br /> 3.5-7 . <br /> (3) Support the use of individual mobile homes as a useful <br /> housing resource in the County by affording these homes <br /> the same locational opportunities as single-family units <br /> meeting the State Building Code. (1) p. 3.5-7 . <br /> GOAL <br /> (1) Adequate. reasonably priced safe housing in an <br /> appropriate variety of types in proximity to jobs and <br /> daily activities for all citizens. (1) p. 3.5-6. <br /> OBJECTIVE <br /> None <br /> PROPOSAL <br /> (1) The combined acreage in all residential categories is <br /> 12,525. Subtracting out 15% of the area for streets and <br /> roads results in a net acreage of 10.646 . The total <br /> population which would reside in the Joint Planning Area <br /> if completely built out. would be 23.543 persons. <br /> (2) Population projections.. .indicate an estimated range of <br /> 15.000 to 38.300 persons residing in the Joint Planning <br /> Area. The holding capacity of the three residential <br /> categories designated on the Plan would approximate the <br /> 4 middle range of the population projections. (2) p. 81. <br />
