99 <br /> SCHOOLS <br /> I . 9UALITATIYE DATA <br /> The rural buffer contains attendance zones for two <br /> public school systems: Chapel Hill -Carrboro City Schools and <br /> Orange County Schools. Several private schools are also <br /> located in the area. <br /> II . OUANTITATIVE DALA <br /> All of Chapel Hill Township south of a line approxi- <br /> mately parallel to Whitfield and Eubanks Roads is in the <br /> Chapel Hill -Carrboro school system. The balance of the rural <br /> buffer in Chapel Hill Township as well as the rural buffer in <br /> Bingham Township are in the Orange County school system. <br /> A portion of the attendance zone for every Chapel Hill - <br /> Carrboro school except Estes Hills Elementary lies within the <br /> rural buffer. Carrboro, Ephesus, Frank Porter Graham, <br /> Glenwood, and Seawell Elementary Schools, as well as both <br /> Culbreth and Phillips Junior High Schools, and Chapel Hill <br /> High School service the rural buffer. <br /> Orange County Schools attendance zones for Grady Brown <br /> Elementary School , Stanford Junior High School , and Orange <br /> High School are in the rural buffer. <br /> III . ISSUES/ IMPLICATIONS <br /> Several schools serving the rural buffer are at or near <br /> their ideal capacity . Orange County Board of Education is <br /> evaluating the potential for a new elementary school to be <br /> sited in the northern part of the rural buffer.
