-7- <br /> (1) are at least age 55 and have 5 years <br /> Q J J creditable service as a law enforcement <br /> officer, or <br /> (2) have at least 30 years creditable service <br /> (regardless of age) in the Local Governmental <br /> Employees Retirement System with at least 50% of that service <br /> being in law enforcement. <br /> If the law enforcement officer meets one of <br /> the two criteria, the officer is entitiled to <br /> a special separation allowance from retirement <br /> until the officer reaches the age of 62 <br /> calculated as follows: <br /> 85% times years of creditable service in the <br /> Local Government Employees Retirement System <br /> times rate of pay. <br /> 9.5.3 Orange County specifically agrees to abide by <br /> all Statutory Provisions of the Retirement <br /> System in so far as they pertain to local law <br /> enforcement officers. The Administrative <br /> rulings, opinions and procedures of the <br /> Retirement System shall be considered in the <br /> administration of retirement benefits. <br /> ARTICLE IV (Section 15.1.1) Pg. 51 <br /> Recommended Change: Add statement to the end of this <br /> Section. <br /> **However, the salary payment which the employee re- <br /> ceives from the military shall be deducted from the sum <br /> paid by the County. <br /> ARTICLE IV (Section 5.2) Pg. 59 <br /> Recommended Change: Change the last sentence in this Section <br /> to read as noted below: <br /> *Nb employee shall be hired above the middle of the <br /> range without recommendation of the Manager and approval <br /> of the Board of Commissioners. <br /> ARTICLE IV (Section 7.0) Pg. 59 <br /> Recommended Change: Delete first sentence and insert state- <br /> ment below. <br /> Note: The asterisk items were approved by the BOCC on 1/5/87 <br />
