4 <br /> a. The County shall be divided by two axes, the <br /> north-south axis shall be Highway 86 (New <br /> Highway 86 from the Caswell County line to <br /> 1-85, Old Highway 86 from I--85 to <br /> Calvander) . The east-west axis shall be St. <br /> Mary's Road (from the Durham County line to <br /> Highway 70) and a continuance of Highway 70 <br /> from that intersection westward to the <br /> Alamance County line. <br /> b. Numbers shall run in an ascending order from <br /> east to west on streets to the west of the <br /> north-south axis. Numbers, likewise, shall <br /> run in an ascending order from west to east <br /> on streets to the east of the north-south <br /> base line. Numbers shall run in an ascend- <br /> ing order from south to north on streets to <br /> the north of the east-west axis. Numbers, <br /> likewise, shall run in an ascending order <br /> from north to south on streets to the south <br /> of the east-west axis. <br /> c. All dead-end streets shall begin numbers at <br /> the open end, no matter which compass <br /> direction they follow. <br /> d. Streets with both ends opening from the same <br /> direction shall begin numbering on the end <br /> closest to the axis. <br /> e. Streets which do not run north-south or <br /> east-west shall begin numbering at the end <br /> closest to the axis. <br /> f. Streets which connect to both axes shall <br /> begin numbering on the end stemming from the <br /> north-south axis. <br /> g. Each block shall begin a new series, for <br /> example, 101, 201, 301. <br /> h. Numbers shall remain unassigned in order to <br /> accommodate future development, and block <br /> numbers shall be assigned to undeveloped <br /> areas. <br /> Section 6. Violation - of this ordinance shall constitute a <br /> misdemeanor punishable as provided in G.S. 14-4. <br /> Whenever the governing body of the County has <br /> reasonable cause to believe that any person is <br /> violating or threatening to violate this ordi- <br /> nance, it may, either before or after the insti- <br /> tution of any other action or proceedingauthoriz- <br />
