ORANGE COUNTY
BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
Action Aqti2da
Item No.
ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT
Meeting Date: FEBRUARY 17, 1987
SUBJECT: HAZEN AND SAWYER CONTRACT AMENDMENT
DEPARTMENT: COUNTY MANAGER ' PUBLIC HEARING: Yes X No
ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: MANAGER'S
OFFICE,X501
AMENDMENT UNDER SEPARATE COVER
SECTION D OF AGREEMENT TELEPHONE NUMBER:
Hillsborough - 732-8181
Chapel Hill - 968-4501
Mebane - 227-2031
Durham - 688-7331
PURPOSE: To authorize additional survey work required for the Efland
Sewer project.
NEED: There is a need to re-route the 12" gravity sewer line behind
Hillsborough Textiles for approximately 400 feet. In the
beginning the Vice President and Plant Manager had directed
that the line be located across the creek to allow for future
building expansion. The owners now want the line to follow
the existing Hillsborough sewer line which is on the plant
side of the creek. By re-routing the new line it is believed
that the fourteen owners will agree to the easement agreement
on a voluntary basis.
IMPACT: The re--routing of the 12" line could save $5, 000 or more in
the cost of the project. The cost of engineering will be
$2,000. This would increase the Section D cost ceiling from
$32, 000 to $34, 000. It is an eligible cost for federal and
state cost participation so the County will not have to pay
the full $2, 000. Farmers Home has approved the amendment.
RECOMMENDATION(S) :
Approve the contract amendment and authorize Chair to sign.
