Screening procedures may include but dre not limited to: <br /> . checklists/behavioral scales of characteristics of the gifted Such os <br /> the Renzulli-Hartman Scale, the Weiss-Guilford Teacher Rating Scale, the <br /> Charlotte-Mecklenburg Checklist, or the Buncombe Behavioral <br /> Characteristics Scale; <br /> . composite or subtest percentile scores obtained on system-wide or <br /> statewide tests of intelligence and/or achievement; <br /> . teacher, parent, peer and/or achievement; <br /> . percentile scores obtained on other standardized screening instruments <br /> such as the, PIAT, WRAT, Slosson, or Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test; <br /> . a listing of students who demonstrate outstanding ability in the <br /> classroom, school , or community such as leadership, motivation, task <br /> commitment. <br /> Evaluation <br /> Identification shall be based on an assessment of intelligence or <br /> aptitude test scores, standardized achievement test scores and student <br /> performance based on grades, demonstrated skills or products. Students <br /> earning 98 or more points on IQ/aptitude and achievement percentiles or <br /> on IQ/aptitude and achievement percentiles plus scholastic performance <br /> are eligible to be considered by the School-based and Administrative <br /> Placement Committees for the academically gifted program. <br /> Rules, .1509, (1), (b) <br /> Standardized IQ/aptitude and achievement test score percentiles are the <br /> -focus of identification and carry an equal weight of 50 points each. When <br /> student performance is also used, it carries a maximum weight of 10 points. <br /> (i) IQ/Aptitude (50 point maximum): individual or group tests may be <br /> used. A list of recommended tests is available in the Division for <br /> Exceptional Children. Scores are to be converted to percentiles, <br /> and each percentile has a point value. <br /> (ii) Achievement (50 point maximum): composite or total reading/total <br /> math subtests may be used. Scores are to be converted to percentiles, <br /> and each percentile has a point value. <br /> (iii) Scholastic Performance (10 point maximum): for students earning <br /> fewer than 98 points on IQ/aptitude and achievement test scores, <br /> scholastic performance shall be considered. A maximum of 10 points <br /> shall be added to points earned on IQ/aptitude and achievement based <br /> on the accompanying scale for overall academic average, specific <br /> subject area grades or documentation of outstanding skills or abilities <br /> (e.g. , writing portfolios, science projects, etc.). <br />
