Consideration should be given <br /> to constructing an addition to the Southern Human <br /> Services Complex at Northside. This new construction <br /> should encompass a minimum of 8,000 square feet and could <br /> provide the required adjacency of the Health Department <br /> to Social Services while affording some expansion <br /> potential to the other agencies located within that <br /> complex. This option is discussed further in Section V.A. <br /> 0. CHAPEL HILL COURTHOUSE <br /> District Attorney Existing: Chapel Hill Courthouse <br /> 1,100 sq. ft. <br /> Recommended: Same location with improvements <br /> Basis for <br /> Recommendations: <br /> The offices provided for the District Attorney's Office <br /> in the basement of the Chapel Hill Courthouse are very <br /> conveniently located and adequate in size. However, the <br /> accommodations are aesthetically undesirable due to the <br /> very nature of their basement location. Pipes and ducts <br /> are exposed overhead and the HVAC system is very <br /> inadequate in the winter. Because the size and location <br /> of the space is so good, it is recommended that the Town <br /> of Chapel Hill give consideration to making improvements <br /> to the heating system and providing aesthetic <br /> improvements that are in keeping with the respect due <br /> this judicial office. <br /> Page 30 <br />
