The amount of space <br /> is only slightly less than adequate, but the lack of <br /> proximity to the Social Service Department is a <br /> detriment. It is recommended that this agency be <br />' 3 accommodated at the Southern Human Services Complex <br /> (Northside) which can only be accomplished if the <br /> 4 Department on. Aging vacates their space at Northside as <br /> discussed in Section IV-L. <br /> Probation/Parole Existing: Old Police Building <br /> approximately 500 sq. ft. <br /> Recommended: Alternate space close to the Courthouse <br /> 500 sq. ft. <br /> Basis for <br /> Recommendations: <br /> These offices are auxiliary to the main office of this <br /> department located in Hillsborough. It remains necessary <br /> y to maintain these offices until a new County facility can <br /> be provided in Chapel Hill or rented space can be found <br /> located closer to the Courthouse. <br /> Public Defender Exist <br /> ing= Old Police Building <br /> approximately 1100 sq. ft. <br /> i Recommended: Alternate space closer to courthouse <br /> 1300 sq. ft. <br /> Basis for <br /> Recommendations: <br /> This suite of offices unequivocably comprises the only <br /> area in this building that is aesthetically tolerable and <br /> functional.
