The remaining 3% <br /> involves commercial properties which have not been finished. <br /> Notices of value have been mailed to 55% of the tax payers in <br /> Orange County and will continue to be mailed in batches of <br /> 5,000 on ten day intervals until all notices are mailed. <br /> Townships yet remaining are parts of Chapel Hill and all of <br /> Eno Township. <br /> Informal hearings began November 19, 1986 and continue each <br /> day until all requests for review have been heard. As of <br /> January 14, 1987 requests for a review are only requiring a <br /> five day waiting time. The review has not shown any signifi- <br /> cant problem with values being at true market levels. <br /> The staggered mailing approach is the most effective way to <br /> assure a timely response to the taxpayers ' inquiries following <br /> notice of new values. Written inquiries have been answered <br /> within three days and telephone inquiries are answered imme- <br /> diately or in a follow-up appointment. <br /> The Tax Supervisor will be present to answer questions. <br /> IMPACT: <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br />
