An employee may <br /> participate in all political activity not specifically restricted by law; <br /> including candidacy for office in nonpartisan election and candidacy for <br /> political party office. However, no employee shall: <br /> (a) use official authority or influence for the purpose of <br /> interfering with or affecting the result of an election or a <br /> nomination for office; <br /> (b) directly or indirectly coerce, attempt to coerce, command or <br /> advise any other employee of the governmental unit to pay, lend or <br /> contribute anything of value to a political party, committee, <br /> organization, agency or person for political purposes; <br /> (c) be a candidate for elective public office in a partisan election <br /> while on active pay status. <br /> (d) be required as a duty of office or as a condition of <br /> employment, promotion, or tenure of office contribute funds for <br /> political or partisan purposes; <br /> (e) post, nor cause to be posted, signs, notices, or other materials <br /> related to any national, state or local political party or candidate, <br /> in or on property owned, leased or used by the department in the <br /> conduct of its official business. <br /> (f) wear or display badges, buttons, or other emblems related to a <br /> national, state, or local political party or candidate while on duty <br /> or during the performance of services for the department; or <br /> (g) use any supplies or equipment of the governmental unit for <br /> political purposes. <br /> 6.1 An employee, regardless of employment status, shall give written <br /> notice of candidacy for partisan elective office, or appointment to a <br /> vacancy in a partisan elective office on or before the filing deadline or <br /> acceptance of partisan appointment. <br /> • <br />
