.4 . 046 <br /> =^ r-:Design Services Unit File No 5406 <br /> ENCROACHMENT SPECIAL PROVISIONS <br /> • . . <br /> 1. The area involved at each site shall be left in a neat and satisfactory <br /> condition. <br /> • <br /> - 2. Backfill shall be placed in not more than 6" layers and thoroughly compacted. <br /> 3. In the event the utility will be buried beneath any pipe culvert, the void <br /> from the bottom of the utility shall be backfilled and compacted to 95% of <br /> its original density. When that density cannot be obtained, the remainder <br /> of the void shall be filled with grout up to the outside horizontal diameter <br /> of the pipe culvert. <br /> 4. If any pipe culvert is disturbed or damaged, it shall be restored to its <br /> original condition. <br /> 5. It will be necessary to contact our District Engineer prior to beginning any <br /> work on the proposed encroachment and upon completion of the work. <br /> 6. It will be necessary for the utility owner to contact our Bridge Maintenance <br /> Superintendent, Mr. J. W. Meadows who is located in Siller City (Telephone <br /> Number 919-742-5649) , to schedule an on-site inspection with his personnel <br /> five (5) working days prior to beginning any work at any box culvert, <br /> bridge, arch culvert or pipe culvert 60" or greater in diameter and upon , <br /> i=? completion of the work. <br /> s ° <br /> 7. In the event that cast-in-place or precast concrete manholes or utility <br /> access vaults will be installed and/or constructed on the State's right of <br /> way, that have not been previously approved, it will be necessar y for the <br /> utility owner to submit detailed sketches of the type manhole(s) or vault(s) , <br /> material specifications and plan and profile drawings of the location(s) <br /> �. showing total depth of excavations, and obtain approval from the Design <br /> Services Unit prior to installation and/or construction. <br /> 8. The operating pressure of the utility main(s) shall not exceed the applicable <br /> codes. <br /> 9. Manhole rings and covers installed within the limits of the State's right of <br /> way shall be of the traffic bearing type. <br /> • <br /> 10. Due to the nature of the proposed work, the Division Engineer may assign an <br /> inspector to make periodical inspections as the work progresses, the cost of <br /> which shall be borne by the utility owner. <br /> • 11. Please note that these Special Provisions cover only the Structure(s) shown <br /> • on the attached sketch(es) and indicated in the subject. Prior approval <br /> must be obtained for any additional bridges, box culverts, arch culverts or <br /> pipe culverts 60" or greater in diameter encountered along the route during <br /> installation. • <br />
