While a single school system will prove desirable in the <br /> future the Commission believes now is not the time for <br /> merger. <br /> 2 . The County should undertake measures to facilitate the <br /> possibility of merger at a later date, including: <br /> a. Equalize the per pupil funding countywide. <br /> b. Fund construction of new schools based on a coopera- <br /> tive facilities plan developed by the two school <br /> systems. <br /> c. Encourage the school districts to investigate areas <br /> where economics may be effected by joint operations <br /> such as transportation, food service and maintenance. <br /> d. Encourage the school districts to pursue areas of <br /> educational cooperation such as special services. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> As the Board decides. <br />
