We have already asked that the <br /> budget be delivered ON 29 MAY to theCommissioners, School Board Members <br /> and the press; we should like a copy of the document to go to each <br /> Department Head on the same date (two to DSS, Health, and Aging) and to <br /> the Orange County Library and the Chapel Hill Library. The Budget would <br /> be made available to the public starting Monday morning in every county <br /> government department. <br /> We have organized the departments over which there is usually the most <br /> discussion, or we know already there is discussion wanted, into groupings <br /> that would require seven work sessions not counting the schools: <br /> Sheriff <br /> Emergency Services Data Processing <br /> Fire Districts Register of Deeds <br /> Land Records <br /> Health <br /> Mental Health Personnel <br /> Social Services Elections <br /> HSAC officers Purchasing and Central Services <br /> Recreation and Parks <br /> Aging <br /> Library <br /> 5-Year Capital Improvement Plan <br /> We think we should first see the Manage____________________________________________________e; we also think in <br /> order to facilitate dialogue in the worshould consider <br /> budget work submitted by Departments. u g <br /> two days before we consider a Department in work session wetreceive: least <br /> Departmental Organization Chart (from page 1 , Budget strategy) ; <br /> New Objectives, cost estimates, milestones (page 3) ; <br /> New positions/reclassification requests -- p1 (page 11) ; <br /> Travel, training and professional development (Form 7A) ; <br /> Capital expenditure appropriation request (Form 8) . <br /> At least two days before Data Processing, all Form 3s (pages 15 and 16) ; <br /> at least two days before Public Works, all Form 4s (page 18) . <br /> We will be waiting to hear your comments, additions and deletions; we <br /> have some hard work in front of us. <br />
