ORANGE COUNTY 004 <br /> BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> Action Agenda <br /> ACTION AGENDA ITEM ABSTRACT Item No. 3 <br /> Meeting Date: DECEMBER 1, 1986 <br /> SUBJECT: OATH OF OFFICE, BOARD ORGANIZATION AND STAFF APPOINTMENTS <br /> DEPARTMENT: BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS PUBLIC HEARING: <br /> Yes X Na <br /> ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: BEVERLY <br /> BLYTHE, X505 <br /> NO TELEPHONE NUMBER: <br /> Hillsborough - 732-8181 <br /> Chapel Hill - 968-4501 <br /> Mebane - 227-2031 <br /> Durham 688-7331 <br /> PURPOSE: Following the oaths the Board should elect a Chair and Vice <br /> Chair for December, 1986 through December, 1987 and appoint <br /> Manager, Attorney, Clerk to the Board, and Board Member <br /> assignments. <br /> NEED: Clerk of Court Shirley James will administer the oath of <br /> office to Shirley Marshall for her second term. <br /> Charlotte Cole will administer the oath of office to <br /> Commissioner-elect Stephen Halkiotis. <br /> Clerk to the Board Beverly Blythe will administer the oath of <br /> office to Commissioner-elect John Hartwell. <br /> According to statute, the Board elects a member to serve a <br /> Chair and Vice Chair for the following year. This is to be s <br /> done at the first regular meeting in December. <br /> The Board also traditionally considers its individual repre- <br /> sentation on various Boards and Commissions and appoints or <br /> reappoints the County Manager, County Attorney and Clerk to <br /> the Board. <br /> { <br /> The Clerk will provide ballots for the election of Board <br /> officers. <br /> IMPACT: To organize the Board for the following year. <br /> RECOMMENDATION(S) : <br /> As the Board decides. <br />
