Durham 688-7331 <br /> Mebane 227-2031 <br /> *************************************************************************** <br /> PURPOSE: To consider a request to delay legal action <br /> against Mr. Benjamin Edkins, owner-operator of <br /> Carolina Sport Art Center, until such time as the <br /> Board of Adjustment has an opportunity to review <br /> his application for a Class B Special Use Permit <br /> at its January 12, 1987 meeting. <br /> NEED: On September 16. 1986. the Board of County <br /> Commissioners authorized the County Attorney to <br /> initiate legal proceedings against Mr. Ben <br /> Edkins for operating a gymnastics center in an <br /> R-1 Residential district without a valid zoning <br /> permit. <br /> Mr. Edkins and his attorney. Mr. John <br /> McCormick, desire to apply for a Class B Special <br /> Use Permit as a Non-Profit Recreational Facility. <br /> Class B Special Use Permits are issued by the <br /> Board of Adjustment, and the Board's next <br /> regularly scheduled meeting is January 12, 1987. <br /> The application deadline is December 8, 1986. <br /> Mr. McCormick is requesting that Orange County <br /> delay any legal action against Mr. Edkins until <br /> such time as the Board of Adjustment has an <br /> opportunity to review the application for a Class <br /> B Special Use Permit. <br /> IMPACT: Delaying legal action against Mr. Edkins would <br /> afford him the opportunity of pursuing one avenue <br />
