The number of DeKalb residents <br /> working at PDK has been determined and cited earlier. Also, the impact of <br /> payroll expenditures has been estimated. Direct, indirect and induced <br /> economic impacts in DeKalb County are discussed in the following paragraphs. <br /> Direct React DeKalb County <br /> Direct economic impact of PDK on the Atlanta area has been calculated <br /> at $27.6 million, of which approximately $10.9 million was represented by <br /> payroll. Thus, payroll accounted for almost 40 percent of direct impact <br /> in the Atlanta area. <br /> As discussed earlier, the payroll portion of direct impact was appor- <br /> tioned to DeKalb County based upon employee residence. The non-payroll <br /> portion of direct impact is used for business overhead. Casrges, debt ser- <br /> vice and profit distribution. Since both employees and non-payroll dis- <br /> . <br /> bursements tend to be concentrated near the place of business, according <br /> to similar studies in other parts of the country, employee residence is <br /> used as the basis for allocating the non-payroll portion of direct impact. <br /> Consequently, 46.2 percent of the total direct economic impact of PDK, or <br /> $12.8 million, is estimated to occur in DeKalb County. <br /> -20- <br /> 4■= . m A to so a soLia.stanst Asiaci•Tts <br />
