11/17/87 <br /> TO: Don Willhoit (7) <br /> FROM: Pearson Stewart\-- — <br /> SUBJECT: NCDOT Grant for Airport Planning - Situation <br /> SOURCE; Phone conversation with Bruce Matthews, DOT Division of <br /> Aviation 11/17/87 <br /> (1) The November, 1987, DOT Transportation Improvement Program <br /> contains aviation projects for the years: 1987 - 88 <br /> 1988 - 89 <br /> 1989 - 90 <br /> Of these years only the initial year exhausts available funds. <br /> The latter two years budget only those projects of known high <br /> prioritY or commitment. Funds are reserved for further projects <br /> on a merit competitive basis. <br /> (z) The next Aviation Council meeting at which further projects will <br /> be considered and which is reasonable for the receipt of applications <br /> is the March, 1988 meeting. November 20 is the deadline for appli- <br /> cations for the December, 1987, meeting and the February meeting <br /> is reserved for a state airports conference. <br /> The application deadline for the March meeting is mid-February. <br /> (3) Bruce Matthews recommends strongly that Orange County meet the <br /> mid-February date if it is really interested. Funds for the next <br /> year may and very probably will be committed expeditiously. <br />
