Article 10 Off-Street Parking and Loading (Contin- <br /> ued from 8-25-86) Handicapped Parking Facilities <br /> Presentation by Collins. <br /> f R „ , No requirement exists in the Zoning Ordinance for <br /> the provision of handicapped parking facilities. <br /> such facilities are currently provided through the <br /> attachment of conditions of approval on <br /> subdivision plats. planned developments and <br /> special use permits. or through the application of <br /> the NC State Building Code requirements. <br /> The proposed ordinance amendments would require <br /> handicapped parking spaces to be a minimum of 13 <br /> feet <br /> in width and 20 feet in length. A minimum of <br /> two (2) hndicapped spaces or one (1) for every 20 <br /> standard parking spaces would be required. Spaces <br /> must be clearly marked for handicapped use and <br /> must be within 100 feet of a building entrance. <br /> Curb cuts or ramps must also be provided for each <br /> space for access to adjoining walkways. <br /> The NC State Building Code currently requires one <br /> (1) handicapped parking space in each 5a standard <br /> spaces but recommends twice that amount. <br /> Planning Staff recommends approval of the <br /> amendment. <br /> There were no couNwents or questions. <br /> AGENDA ITEM #4: SUBDIVISION REGULATIONS AMENDMENTS <br /> a.
