Article 10 Off-Street Parking and Loading (Contin- <br /> ued from 8-25-861 Handicapped Parking Facilities <br /> Presentation by Collins. <br /> No requirement exists in the Zoning Ordinance for the. <br /> provision of handicapped parking facilities. such <br /> facilities , are currently provided through the attach <br /> ment of conditions of approval on subdivision plats, <br /> planned developments and special use permits;o or <br /> through the application of the NC State Building Code <br /> requirements. <br /> The proposed ordinance amendments would require <br /> handicapped parking spaces to be a minimum of 13 feet <br /> in width and 20 feet in length. A minimum of two (2) <br /> hndicapped spaces or one ( 1 ) for every 20 standard <br /> parking spaces would be required. Spaces - must be <br /> clearly marked for handicapped use and ;must be within <br /> 100 feet of a building entrance. Curb cuts or ramps <br /> must also be provided for each space for access to <br /> adjoining walkways . <br /> . The NC State Building Code currently requires one ( 1 ) <br /> handicapped parking space in each 50 standard spaces <br /> but recommends twice that amount. <br /> Planning Staff recommends approval of the amendment. <br /> There were no comments or questions. . <br />
