A Y <br /> Attachments: Yes - Proclamation Information Contact: Don Willhoit <br /> Phone Numbers: 732-8181, 968-4501, <br /> 227-0231 <br /> PURPOSE: To observe National Employ the Handicapped Week in Orange County. <br /> NEED: To issue a proclamation identifying the first week of October as Employ the <br /> Handicapped Week in Orange County. The observance has three objectives: <br /> (1) To express appreciation to employers who have established outstanding <br /> programs and records of hiring people with disabilities. <br /> (2) To encourage those employers who have not hired a worker with a <br /> disability to look at the abilities, not disabilities. <br /> (3) To salute the achievements of people with disabilities who are contri- <br /> buting to their communities and to society through their jobs. <br /> RECOMMENDATION: Proclaim the week of October 5-11, 1986 as National Employ the <br /> Handicapped Week in Orange County and authorize the Chair to sign the <br /> Proclamation. <br />
