Such facilities are cur- <br /> rently provided through the attachment of conditions of ap- <br /> proval on subdivision plats, planned developments and special <br /> use permits, or through the application of the N.C. State <br /> Building Code requirements. <br /> The Ordinance Review Committee of the Planning Board as well asp <br /> the full Planning Board recommended that a public hearing be <br /> held this date to consider deletion of Article 6.21.1 a) 2) of <br /> the Zoning Ordinance. The provision requires each mobile home <br /> space in an existing nonconforming mobile home park to be <br /> improved in accordance with design standards applicable to new <br /> mobile home parks as units are replaced. The recommendation <br /> resulted from a public meeting held by the Ordinance Review <br /> Committee on July 31, 1986 at which spokesmen for mobile home <br /> park owners, operators and residents requested the amendment. <br /> IMPACT: The proposed ordinance amendments would require handicapped <br /> parking spaces to be a minimum of 13 feet in width and 20 feet <br /> in length. A minimum of two (2) handicapped spaces or one (1) <br /> for every 20 standard parking spaces would be required. Spaces <br /> must be clearly marked for handicapped use and must be within <br /> 100 feet of a building entrance. Curb cuts or ramps must also <br /> be provided for each space for access to adjoining walkways. <br /> The N.C. State Building Code currently requires one (1) handi- <br /> capped parking space in each 50 standard spaces but recommends <br />
