Staff is requesting that legal proceedings be <br /> initiated to bring the use into compliance with the Orange. <br /> County Zoning Ordinance. The violation is as follows: <br /> Central Carolina Ban & Trust Company Trustees Et Al <br /> AKA Carolina Art Sport Center <br /> CHAPEL HILL TOWNSHIP TAX MAP 24 LOT 16 <br /> CCB entered into a contract with Benjamin Edkins for use of a <br /> building located on the property referenced as a "barn" on <br /> building permit #761748 (See enclosed information) . Edkins <br /> proceeded to operate the building as a gymnastic center known <br /> as Carolina Art Sport Center without a zoning permit. The <br /> property is zoned Rural Residential (R-1) _ Use of the property <br /> for a gymnastic center is not permitted in a R-1 district. <br /> CCB was notified of the zoning violation on October 29. 1985 <br /> and December 11, 1985 in writing. CCB was verbally notified on <br /> December 13. 1985. CCB was notified in writing again on Janu- <br /> ary 15. 1986 and verbally on that date to Jack Walker. Attor- <br /> ney. representing CCB. John McCormick. Attorneys representing <br /> Edkins, was then notified verbally on January 22, 1986. McCor- <br /> mick and Walker were informed of the violation and remedies <br /> available to them on those dates.
