NEW COURTHOUSE IMPROVEMENTS PROJECT <br /> Appropriation Amount: $25,000 is budgeted in 1986-97 <br /> $25,000 is anticipated to be . <br /> included in 1987-88 budget <br /> bringing the total project <br /> cost to $50,000. <br /> Negotiations have not begun. The $50,000 is an estimate <br /> only of the amount necessary to purchase the approximate <br /> 2.09 acres southeast of the courthouse at 106 E. <br /> Margaret Lane. The property owners had previously <br /> indicated they would sell the property at tax value. <br /> The $25,000 is the first of two years funding. <br /> 2. MAPPING PROJECT <br /> Appropriation Amount $179,892 budgeted in 1985-86. <br /> $ 72,701 budgeted in 1986-87 <br /> ($16,000 State Grant, $7,840 <br /> transfer from County Capital <br /> reserve, $18,861 from charges <br /> to participating jurisdictions <br /> and $30,000 added in mark-up) <br /> bringing the total to <br /> $252,593. <br /> These funds provided for Phase II of a Multi-year, <br /> Multi-phased remapping of the County. Development of <br /> Orthophotos and topography maps for the Chapel Hill <br /> Township are the intended result of this on-going <br /> project. <br /> 3. PURCHASE OF SOUND SYSTEM AT THE ART SCHOOL <br /> Appropriation Amount: $5,000 <br /> The Art School in Carrboro is in the process of <br /> purchasing and renovating a building in which the County <br /> intends to lease space for a portion of its Department <br /> on Aging function. The set-up of the facility also <br /> makes it an ideal place for meetings held by various <br /> County Boards and Commissioners. Funds have been set <br /> aside in this project to provide a sound system for the <br /> meeting area that would be utilized. <br /> 4. HAZARDOUS MATERIALS PROJECT <br /> Appropriation Amount: $20,000 <br /> This project includes funds for training, equipment and <br /> various start-up costs associated with the formation of <br /> a Hazardous Materials Response Team in Orange County. <br /> V <br />
