PLANNING BOARD MINUTES 7-21-86 <br /> 0r• <br /> allow the Board to delete the skirting provision <br /> entirely . <br /> DRAFTBest commented that he thought the skirting require- <br /> ment was included to address safety concerns with <br /> the spread of fire throughout a unit. <br /> Smith responded that the skirting materials permit- <br /> ted ranged from solid masonry block to open pressure <br /> treated lattice panels . <br /> Yuhasz noted that the provisions seemed inconsistent <br /> given that pole buildings are permitted in Orange <br /> County . <br /> Jacobs commented that there were two issues here 1 ) <br /> is landscaping an acceptable alternative and 2) <br /> safety concerns . <br /> Yuhasz inquired what evidence had been presented to <br /> suggest that skirting is safer . Best responded that <br /> open areas allow fire to "run" . <br /> Yuhasz commented that he supported the revision to <br /> provide relief to mobile home owners on wooded lots <br /> but that the Board needs to reconsider the skirting <br /> provision . <br /> VOTE ; Unanimous <br /> Walters noted that tax revisions are needed to <br /> encourage mobile home unit owners to make their <br /> homes more permanent. <br /> Lewis commented that if safely is the concerns then <br /> education , not regulation is needed. <br /> MOTION: Yuhasz moved approval of the amendment to Article <br /> 22. <br /> Taylor seconded the motion . <br /> Best inquired if the Board should recommend solid <br /> skirting . Yuhasz responded that that would be <br /> better discussed in the context of the broader <br /> discussion on skirting . <br /> VOTE: Unanimous . <br /> WOOD ' S EDGE PLANNED DEVELOPMENT SITE PLAN MODIFICATION <br /> Smith presented the matter . She noted that the <br /> temporary office mobile home unit was well placed <br /> and landscaped, but was located within the buffer . <br /> She indicated that staff was concerned about <br /> maintaining the integrity of the buffer though they <br /> recognized that the unit as is is visually accept- <br /> able and relocation may cause substantial disrup- <br /> tion .
