ORA'v 3E COUNTY
BOARD CZ Ca• IIssi nas Action
rIO a'
A GA I'M ABSTRACT Item
t TI DATE AUGUST 4, 1986
•
Subject: Revised Pees for Dental Clinics
[ Dcvartrent: Health J Public Rearing: yes _
Attacha;ent(s) : Itr o.tatioi Contact: Jerry Robinson
•
One - Listing of Proposed Pees
• Phone N►zber: -732--8181, Ext. 311
Purpose: At its June 26, 1986 meeting the Board of Health and Health Director
reviewed a June, 1986 usual and customary fee analysis that had been prepared
by the Dental Director and dentist Board of Health member. The Board policy
is to keep our 100% pay at the median of local usual and customary private
practice charges. The attached recommended fees and base visit minimum
charge would accomplish our policy goal. -
0
Need: Public clinic fees should not compete with private practice fees. Our
fees should be revised to avoid such competition, •
•
Impact: Approximately 80% of all our clinic patients are sufficiently low income
that they either pay at 20% of full charge or the minimum visit charge
(recommended to go from $5 to $8). The- revised ,fees would increase our
clinic fee income by up to $400 per month. This-,income was included in
the dental revenue projections in the budget adopted by the Commissioners
on Jury 23. _
Recommendation(s): Adopt the dental fees,,as recommended by the Board of Health
and Health Director.
. M
