Research shows that people living in
poverty disproportionately experience Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), which are
potentially traumatic events that can have negative, lasting effects on health and well-being.
Intervening early to address the social determinants of health, including ACEs and
educational achievement, are priorities for the health department and laid the foundation for
the Family Success Alliance (FSA).
