Yes X No ATTACHMENT(S) : INFORMATION CONTACT: MANAGER'S OFFICE,X501 RESOLUTION TELEPHONE NUMBER: Hillsborough - 732-8181 Chapel Hill - 968-4501: Mebane - 227-2031 Durham - 688-7331 PURPOSE: To consider adopting a resolution approving the -transfer of Village Cable's Cable Television franchise to Prime Venture I, Inc, NEED: Village Cable has signed an agreement with Prime Venture I for the purchase and sale of the assets used" in operating the cable system in the County. The consumation of the trans action is subject to approval of the franchise transfer. On June 13, 1986 Village Cable officially requested approval of Cable Franchise transfer in accordance with Section VII (b) of the Orange County Cable Television System Ordinance. The ordinance provides that the official request. includes "identifying particulars of the proposed transaction," County Attorney has reviewed transaction information submitted by Village Cable and Prime Venture I. Prime Venture i is owned by Prime Cable corporation which has headquarters in Austin, Texas. Prime Cable has franchises in Georgia, New York and Maryland. In discussions with Village Cable it was indicated Prime Venture I will adhere to the County Cable Television Ordinance, maintain a local office, and retain many current employees of Village Cable. IMPACT: If Board action is not taken within sixty days, approval shall be deemed to be granted. The County Cable Franchise with Village expires February, 1996. RECOMMENDATION(S) : Adopt resolution approving transfer of Village Cable's Cable Television Franchise to Prime Venture I.
