Orange County, the entity officially
spearheading the EAS effort, will be joined in their request
for costs by the University of North Carolina, Duke
University, Memorial Hospital, Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools,
the Town of Hillsborough, and the Town of Carrboro to name
only a few.
IMPACT: The receipt of these letters by the Utilities Commission
will allow them to initiate procedures that will yield cost
per subscriber, both residential and business. This
information in turn can be used in the campaign for extended
area service.
RECOMMENDATION: To approve the letter addressed to the Utilities
Commission and authorize the Chairman to sign on
behalf of the Board of County Commissioners.
