24, <br /> 8 . Provides liaison services to volunteer groups, agencies <br /> and individuals . <br /> 9 . Provides training and supervision to volunteers who <br /> assist in the activities program, i .e . , RSVP . <br /> 10 . Develops and promotes a positive working relationship <br /> with the University of North Carolina Recreation <br /> Curriculum and student training coordinator which <br /> encourages the utilization of recreation students in <br /> the activities program. <br /> 11 . Provides training and supervision to recreation <br /> students assisting in the activities program. <br /> 12 . Performs other therapeutic recreation duties as needed . <br /> Knowledge, Skills , and Abilities : <br /> 1 . Knowledge of therapeutic recreation theory, principles , <br /> techniques and methods and their specific implications <br /> as applications to the aging population . <br /> 2 . Knowledge of the characteristics of aging and its <br /> implications to therapeutic recreation program design , <br /> including the cognitive , social , and emotional , and <br /> physical ?mplicatioas of the aging process. <br /> 3 . Ability to plan and implement a variety of therapeutic <br /> recreation activities that enhance the dignity and <br /> self-esteem of the client . <br /> 4. Ability to evaluate the effectiveness of the <br /> therapeutic recreation program and to modify program <br /> goals and objectives to meet the needs, interests, and <br /> abilities of the client . <br /> 5. Ability to train and supervise volunteers and <br /> therapeutic recreation students in the basic techniques <br /> of therapeutic recreation programming . <br /> 6 . Ability to maintain a positive working relationship <br /> with clients , Domiciliary Home administrators and <br /> staff, UNC Recreation Curriculum, Volunteer agencies, <br /> resource agencies and the public . <br /> Minimum Education and Experience : <br /> 1 . Graduation from a four year college or university with <br /> a degree in therapeutic recreation which includes an <br /> internship or in recreation with a minor in therapeutic <br /> recreation which includes an internship; or an <br /> equivalent combination of education and experience . <br />
